MHP boosts fintech roster with Klarna win

MHP has cemented its position as the UK’s leading fintech communications agency after being appointed by Klarna UK to provide corporate reputation, b2b, consumer and public affairs support.

The leading global disruptor of payments and banking, and provider of smoooth shopping, last year became the most valuable private fintech company in Europe, working with more than 200,000 retailers worldwide and facilitating over a million transactions a day.

The MHP team, led by Director Cat Ommanney, will support Klarna’s rapid UK growth plans as the business establishes and expands its core propositions. In addition to launching dedicated campaigns in both the consumer and b2b space with Klarna’s internal and third party teams, MHP will work in tandem to provide public affairs support.

The win strengthens MHP’s growing portfolio of fintech clients, including Revolut, Youtility and Airbus-owned Skytra.

Alex Bigg, MHP’s CEO, said: “Klarna is shaking up the payments industry for all the right reasons, empowering both retailers and consumers alike with smoooth payments and has ambitious plans as the business expands. We have been watching Klarna closely as it has grown into the largest fintech in Europe and are genuinely thrilled to be working with the team.”

The win follows the recent announcement of Nick Woods as the new head of MHP’s Financial Services practice. Nick will manage a team of 15 specialists, who provide strategic communication support for clients across the financial services sector, including banks, insurers, asset managers, pension funds, advisory firms and fintechs.
