The power of Twitter – or maybe Stephen Fry – has been proven once again, this time by Talk Talk.
The internet service provider couldn’t believe its luck when Fry, a renowned technophile, threw its weight behind its Don’t Disconnect Us petition, which calls on the Government to ditch its plans to cut the internet connections of persistent illegal downloaders.
Within hours of him tweeting a link to the petition on Sunday morning, thousands upon thousands of people added their names to the petition, making it the 8th most popular petition on the Downing Street website.
As is stands, the petition now has more than 20,000 signatories, but if Fry gets its way that number will soar. In his original tweet he wrote: “I’ll keep at this till a million sign!”
