Another first for Twitter, as it begins to impact on the reshuffle. The following Twitter message was sent by a senior Civil Servant at DIUS this morning:
You can’t go for a coffee and blueberry muffin without your department being abolished.
The latest rumours are that the Department is being carved up between Lord Mandelson, who will take the science and innovation, and Ed Balls, who will add universities to his Schools brief. This is the price of keeping both men, who may have been expecting bigger jobs in today’s reshuffle, happy. For now.
