We at MHP believe that a vibrant media is a critical part of a healthy society. And, despite the many pressures on careers in the media, we believe that journalism is a dynamic choice for ambitious and talented young individuals. We also think that some of the most exciting journalism of today is being delivered by that very group of the most talented, young, individuals.
So, to celebrate the journalist stars of the future, we are launching a new award.
The inaugural MHP 30 To Watch Awards will recognise the very best in young journalist talent. Selected from a group of finalists, whose achievements already make them stand out, the 30 To Watch has been judged by a panel of PR, media and industry experts who have a personal and professional passion for recognising the future stars of the media.
From getting under the skin of Westminster and party politics, delivering consumer news stories in interesting and relevant ways, to using digital channels to engage in live dialogue with readers, uncovering the latest stories in business and the markets, and crafting specialist coverage of complex sectors; there are many journalists under 30 years of age who are pushing the boundaries in both investigative and analytic content.
We believe that they deserve to be recognised and lauded.
So, on Thursday 12 January, we will be joined by our finalists, our friends and colleagues from across Engine, and senior members of the media and communications industry, where we will raise a toast to all of the brilliant young journalists present – and in particular to those who receive special Gold Awards on the night.
We look forward to announcing the full results of the 30 To Watch 2012 next year. In the meantime, may the speculation on potential winners begin….
