Andrew Nicolls’ day one from Davos

Written by Andrew Nicolls on 26 January 2012

MHP’s first visit to Davos has been an eye opener! Everyone says that that if the World Economic Forum was bombed we would lose all the world’s best financiers, but if Ella’s restaurant had been bombed last night we would have lost the world’s leading financial PRs. Taylor Bennett, Thomson Reuters and McKinsey hosted a dinner of the great and good in banking PR: HSBC, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Nomura to name a few, with the media represented by Sky and Thomson Reuters.

The Japanese Prime Minister had to serve his own drinks as Mrs Moneypenny was hosting her guests. Davos is mad, a total leveller where the ex-gods of the universe are looking at maps upside down and slipping on the snowy streets in inappropriate shoes, just like everyone else.

Not much was really said yesterday but today is what it is all about.
